Central Functions

The foundation for long-term success.

The central functions create the framework that enables MEAG to operate successfully over the long term. They play a crucial role in ensuring that MEAG is financially strong and can consistently fulfill its responsibilities toward its clients and the Group. From Research and Finance to ESG, Human Resources, and Communications, experts here collaborate across departments. Together, they ensure stability, direction, and further development—and enable well-informed decisions in a dynamic market environment.

Research

Research provides the foundation for well-informed investment decisions. The team combines macroeconomics, quantitative models, and capital market research, develops scenarios, analyses, and strategies, and makes complex market movements understandable. In close collaboration with Portfolio Management and the Executive Board, it shapes capital market insights and the investment strategy of tomorrow.

Finance

The Finance division ensures that MEAG is financially strong, transparent, and future-oriented. It plans, manages, and analyzes the company’s financial performance, thereby creating a reliable foundation for clear decisions and sustainable growth. With a high level of technical expertise, it supports the entire MEAG as well as companies within Munich Re Group and provides clear financial and regulatory guidance.

Risk Management

MEAG’s independent Risk Management function is part of the Investment Risk Management (IRM) department. IRM ensures that risks across all asset classes are transparently identified, assessed, and managed to protect MEAG’s financial stability and the performance of its portfolios. As part of Munich Re’s Group-wide risk management framework, IRM promotes strong governance, uniform standards, and a robust risk culture throughout the company.

Transformation & Strategy

Transformation & Strategy shapes the future of MEAG, identifies growth potential, and derives strategic initiatives from market and competitive analyses. Together with the business units, the division drives the Ambition 2030 initiative, challenges the status quo, and develops new solutions for a successful strategic direction in a dynamic market environment. Through professional process and project management expertise, it leverages the organization as an effective tool to solve challenges more quickly and efficiently.

"Working in Strategy at MEAG means actively shaping the company’s future in close collaboration with senior leadership and being directly involved in key decisions. We go beyond pure concepts by driving implementation and turning ideas into tangible impact."

Legal, Regulatory & Compliance

The Legal, Regulatory & Compliance division supports MEAG with comprehensive legal expertise across all asset classes, accompanies transactions from due diligence through to contract drafting, and advises on fund structuring as well as regulatory requirements such as MiFID, WpHG, and ESG. Compliance ensures that MEAG acts responsibly, in compliance with regulations, and with a risk-aware mindset—thereby sustainably strengthening the company’s integrity and future viability.

ESG & Sustainable Finance

ESG & Sustainable Finance shapes MEAG’s sustainable strategy and continuously refines its ESG strategy. As a center of excellence, the team supports the business units in embedding ESG criteria across all asset classes, implementing regulatory requirements, and integrating sustainability into daily operations. In this way, it strengthens MEAG’s future viability and promotes responsible investment.

Human Resources

Human Resources actively shapes MEAG’s work environment: The department attracts and develops talent, promotes modern collaboration, and supports personal growth. Its responsibilities include recruiting, employee development, supporting employees and managers, as well as services such as payroll and general services. The team works closely with all departments and makes a key contribution to MEAG’s future viability.

Communications

Communications shapes MEAG’s internal and external communications and strengthens the company’s profile both internally and externally. In external communications, the team works closely with trade media and is responsible for all relevant channels, including the MEAG website, with the goal of delivering clear, relevant, and effective messages that strengthen our brand and reach our stakeholders.

“I am passionate about supporting people in their development and helping them unlock their potential. I particularly value the opportunity to independently drive a wide range of topics forward – within a trusting and appreciative team where we achieve sustainable impact together!”
