Gain a sneak preview into the world of reinsurance

You haven’t finalised your summer plans yet? Take the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the world of reinsurance with Munich Re before finishing school. During our two-week summer internship, you’ll discover what we do as a Reinsurer and why our employees find their work both exciting and rewarding.

Duration: 2 weeks in August
Recruitment timeline: Applications open each autumn – usually October. Apply before the end of January in the year you wish to complete the internship. We recruit on a rolling basis, and the role may be unposted before the deadline if positions are filled. As such, early applications are encouraged.
Hiring units: This is an experiential programme hosted by the Human Resources department 

Please note: Due to limited capacity, we unfortunately cannot guarantee you a spot on the programme. 

What's in it for you:

  • Inside look at Munich Re: Shadow our experts and learn how reinsurance works in practice.
  • Guidance and support: Our apprentices will accompany you throughout the internship, and you’ll have a personal mentor for advice and feedback.
  • Hands-on experience: Work on a group project around a current topic and present your results to supervisors at the end.
  • Clarity for your future: Take away real insights, impressions, and background knowledge to help guide your career decisions.
  • Recognition for your efforts: Your commitment and curiosity will be rewarded with a stipend of 300€.

What we're looking for:

  • Genuine interest in the reinsurance industry 
  • Motivation and curiosity to learn something new every day 
  • Currently in 11th or 12th grade of a Gymnasium or 9th grade of a Realschule 
  • At least 15 years old and not yet completed school education

Application freeze: Due to the large number of applications, we closed the call for applications on 15 January 2026. You are welcome to apply in winter 2026 for the internship in August 2027.
