Artificial intelligence and advanced analytics are transforming the insurance industry across the value chain. As Chief Analytics Officer, you will lead the strategic vision, development, and execution of advanced analytics capabilities across Munich Re’s APAC MEA Life and Health business.

Based in Singapore, you will head the Regional Analytics Centre (RAC), overseeing a high-performing, diverse team of data scientists and engineers delivering innovative, data-driven solutions. Reporting to the Head of Digital Solutions Life and Health 2 (LH2DS), you will work at the intersection of business strategy, actuarial science, claims, underwriting, and emerging technologies to create new services, enhance customer experience, and drive business growth. The RAC forms part of the Digital Solutions Life and Health 2 unit, supporting local offices on digital and AI topics and coordinate activities across the region and beyond.

This is a leadership role requiring both strategic direction and hands-on oversight of advanced analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives across the insurance value chain.


Your Role

Strategic Leadership

  • Help define and drive the regional analytics strategy aligned with global priorities and business objectives
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML to transform underwriting, pricing and claims
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  • Build strong capabilities in ML, deep learning (DL), NLP, and emerging AI technologies (including LLMs)
  • Promote best practices in model development, validation, deployment, and governance

Analytics Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee the end-to-end analytics lifecycle: data acquisition, modelling, validation, deployment, and monitoring
  • Ensure delivery of scalable, high-impact analytics solutions across the insurance value chain
  • Guide teams in applying advanced techniques (GLMs, ML, DL, NLP, computer vision, etc.) to structured and unstructured data
  • Ensure analytics and AI solutions are developed and deployed in line with applicable model governance, responsible AI principles, data privacy requirements, and relevant regulatory expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (reinsurance offices, actuaries, underwriters, client managers, IT) and global analytics teams
  • Partner with clients to co-develop analytics solutions and new business models
  • Translate technical insights into clear business strategies and actionable recommendations

Innovation & Capability Building

  • Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in AI, data science, and InsurTech
  • Drive adoption of modern data platforms, cloud technologies (Azure, AWS), and APIs/microservices

Your Profile

Experience & Education

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in data science, AI/ML, and advanced analytics, with proven leadership experience
  • Track record of successfully delivering end-to-end analytics solutions at scale

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of statistical modelling, ML, DL, NLP, and AI frameworks
  • Hands-on knowledge of Python (required), with familiarity in R and SQL
  • Experience with data visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Dash, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud analytics environments (AWS, Azure) and modern data architectures
  • Understanding of APIs, microservices, Git, and MLOps practices
  • Exposure to LLMs and their enterprise applications

Leadership & Business Skills

  • Strong ability to translate complex analytics into business value
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, global environment

Industry Knowledge 

  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or InsurTech
  • Familiarity with Life & Health business domains
