In Munich Re’s Energy & Construction department the Power & Utilities Team is the access point for corporate clients with power generation, storage and/or transmission assets. We provide first party coverage for operation and construction of all relevant occupancies within the Power & Utility industry. We offer a unique selling proposition of combining comprehensive insurance cover and risk management consultancy for this industry.

Apart from underwriting we also act as a center of expertise: we are the preferred in-house contact with respect to power generation for internal requests and demands. Externally, we are a leading provider of large engineering construction project and operational insurance capacity for the power generation industry.

We are looking for a working student who assists our team regarding technology driven analysis of claims and underlying exposure. The candidate will work closely with the team to structure and setup a tool to capture this information. This position will have interfaces with various internal stakeholders and will offer a great opportunity in our growing, highly specialized and fascinating field of power generation business.

Your Job

  • Supporting engineering underwriters in the daily underwriting process in the field of Power Generation
  • Reviewing submissions and preparing data for risk assessment and pricing
  • Develop database solutions and front-end applications to match claims experience with exposure data
  • Assisting in data analytics and portfolio review

Your Profile

  • Current field of study: engineering, information technology, business administration, economics or similar
  • Strong IT affinity. Experience with database programming and AI technologies is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and ability to clearly communicate and present complex topics
  • Quick comprehension and adaptability skills. Structured and reliable work approach.
  • Fluent in English. German language skills are an advantage.
  • Available to work in Munich for at least 6 months, longer availability would be preferred.
  • Full-time availability for the first 3 months which can be reduced to 16 or 20 hours per week after that

Candidates with first professional work experience preferred Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
