Munich Re of Malta p.l.c. (MRoM) is a subsidiary of the Munich Re Group with a portfolio of more than € 3.5 billion premium. The book of business stems from group-internal retrocessions and third party reinsurance in life, health and non-life from markets all over the world and is written in close cooperation with various units in the Munich Re Group.

MRoM is a fast growing, extremely efficient company looking to strengthen the Risk Management team with the addition of a highly skilled and motivated individual in Malta as part of the enterprise risk management function. As a Financial Risk Analyst you will be reporting to the Chief Risk Officer. The role will work in close collaboration with responsible business owners as well as with the Group’s Integrated Risk Management in Munich.

The successful candidate will be occupying a role providing excellent opportunity for development and growth in a first class international reinsurance company.

YOUR JOB

  • Contribute to the Company's financial risk management framework, supporting the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting of all material financial risks.
  • Execute key elements of the annual capital model cycle, including quarterly model updates, calibration, validation, analysis of results, and documentation.
  • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, including stress and scenario testing, risk strategy reviews, and the development of risk appetite recommendations.
  • Contribute to regulatory, Board, Committee, and Group risk reporting, ensuring timely and accurate communication of risk exposures and developments.
  • Support the operational risk management framework, including business continuity management, information security, outsourcing oversight, data protection and privacy risks, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk assessments.
  • Assist the Senior Risk Manager and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in the execution of the risk management function, providing independent risk oversight and supporting advisory activities to the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in local and Group-wide projects, conducting ad hoc risk analyses and providing risk expertise on strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Maintain and enhance risk governance processes, policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders across the business and Group functions to promote effective risk management practices and a strong risk culture.
  • Monitor emerging risks and industry developments, assessing their potential impact on the Company and recommending appropriate risk management actions.

YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree in a finance related subject, mathematics, statistics or actuarial science, ideally complemented with further training in risk management or finance
  • Relevant professional experience or internships within insurance, risk management, actuarial, finance, or related fields. Exposure to Solvency II and enterprise risk management frameworks is considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and translate them into clear and actionable insights.
  • Ability to learn quickly, challenge constructively, manage competing priorities, and work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Strong communication skills, able to present complex matters logically and with transparency, and to provide high-quality reporting tailored to management needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and intercultural awareness, enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams, in an international environment, and within a hybrid setting.
  • Experience in risk modelling or with coding languages would be an advantage
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
