Why Join HSB?

We don't just insure risk—we help businesses build resilience. At HSB, you'll join a purpose-driven organisation trusted for technical excellence, specialist engineering expertise, and market-leading insurance solutions.

As part of our Partnerships team, you'll work with underwriting, legal, claims and product specialists to develop innovative insurance propositions that support our partners and customers. You'll be encouraged to share your expertise, develop your career, and make a genuine impact within a collaborative and supportive environment.

If you're looking for a role where your technical knowledge can influence products, partnerships and business growth, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Technical Underwriter, you'll be the technical expert supporting our Partnerships business, ensuring our products and documentation are accurate, compliant and fit for purpose.

Working closely with underwriting, legal, claims, product and business development teams, you'll draft and maintain policy wordings, delegated authority agreements, appointed representative agreements and reinsurance treaties. You'll also support new product development, provide technical guidance and training, and help ensure our products continue to meet legal, regulatory and underwriting standards throughout the partnership lifecycle.

What Makes This Role Special

  • Shape innovative products – Help develop specialist insurance solutions that support strategic partnerships.
  • Be a trusted expert – Provide technical guidance to colleagues, partners and key stakeholders.
  • Drive improvement – Influence the development of policy wordings, governance and underwriting standards.
  • Work collaboratively – Partner with underwriting, legal, claims and business development teams across the business.
  • Invest in your future – Build your career with ongoing professional development as part of the wider Munich Re Group.

What You Bring

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset and sound commercial judgement.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Need

  • Experience in commercial or consumer insurance underwriting, or a similar technical insurance role.
  • Experience drafting or reviewing insurance documentation, policy wordings or delegated authority agreements, or transferable experience in legal, compliance or product governance.
  • A good understanding of insurance regulation and underwriting governance.
  • Experience working with insurers, MGAs, affinity partners or delegated authority arrangements would be advantageous.
  • Degree qualified, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • ACII qualified or working towards the qualification is desirable.

What We Offer

In addition to a competitive salary and hybrid working, you'll benefit from a comprehensive rewards package including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and wellbeing days.
  • Annual bonus opportunity.
  • Up to 13% employer pension contribution.
  • Private medical and dental cover.
  • Life assurance.
  • Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Study support and continuing professional development.
  • Hybrid working.
