 As specialty provider of primary insurance services in the UK, Great Lakes London Branch (“GLLB”) is a substantial segment within Great Lakes Insurance SE in Munich. Our interlocked business model is to seize opportunities closely connected to the reinsurance core business and innovation opportunities, in our role as an integral insurance platform of Munich Re Group’s Global and Specialty Insurance (GSI) Unit.

Great Lakes Insurance UK Limited (“GLLS”), regulated by Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority, is a fully owned subsidiary of Great Lakes Insurance SE and acts as the preferred facilitator of agency and speciality insurance business in the UK.

About the role:

This role supports the continuous improvement of finance processes across Great Lakes Finance UK. The successful candidate will leverage strong finance knowledge, process expertise and analytical skills to identify inefficiencies, strengthen controls, improve data quality and enhance reporting and decision-making across the finance function.

The role is focused on delivering practical, sustainable improvements that simplify processes, reduce manual effort and improve business outcomes. Automation, data and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, are important enablers and will play a key role in supporting the continued evolution of the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and deliver improvements to finance processes, reporting activities and controls, improving efficiency, data quality and business outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into practical process improvements, reporting enhancements and automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards and analytical tools that improve transparency, insight and reduce manual effort.
  • Ensure process improvements and automation solutions are appropriately tested, documented, controlled and embedded into business-as-usual operations.
  • Support adoption of new processes and tools through training, guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent Great Lakes Finance UK on cross-functional initiatives relating to finance processes, reporting and automation, ensuring finance requirements are appropriately reflected.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong finance background, gained within insurance, reinsurance or another regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes, reporting, controls and governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying inefficiencies and delivering practical process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into sustainable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience using SQL, Power Query and/or Python to improve finance processes, reporting and decision-making.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, analysis or business processes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: 

  • Degree, professional qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in finance, finance operations, reporting, financial control, technical accounting or related finance roles, including delivery of process improvement initiatives and implementation of sustainable solutions.
