Purpose:
The senior business analyst will provide insights through data analytics that drive strategic business decisions.  The senior business analyst does this by providing internal and external customers with the analysis to make informed strategic decisions.  Analysts primarily support the sales, marketing and customer experience departments, serving as the central point for analytical themed projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analysts will be expected to facilitate work meetings, ask the right questions, and actively listen to colleagues to take in new information and build relationships. A project's success may revolve around the analyst's ability to communicate things like project requirements, changes, and testing results.
  • Business analysts work to build a shared understanding of problems, outline the parameters of the project, and determine potential solutions for their customers.
  • Must have proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst or in a similar analytical role, with a strong understanding of insurance data and its impact on business operations.
  • Act as an intermediary between a variety of people with various types of personalities: clients, developers, users, management, and information technology (IT).
  • Assess multiple choices before leading the team toward a solution. Effectively doing so requires a critical review of data, documentation, and any other element required to deliver the project. 
  • Developing and maintaining dynamic, insightful visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI, enabling stakeholders to easily interpret complex data. 
  • Work with databases containing data from multiple sources, at various granular levels, to deliver data and analysis for use in analytics and visualization projects. 
  • Strive to automate existing data processes to improve reporting efficiency. 
  • Utilize DAX and other advanced analytical techniques to build robust data models and calculations that enhance the quality and depth of reports. 
  • Act as a change agent during the transition to an analytics-driven organization.



Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong problem solving, diagnostic, and analytical skills
  • Ability to relate numbers and calculations to ideas and business questions
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of tools
  • Proficient with SQL
  • Experience with Python and distributed big-data processing platforms
  • Expertise in Microsoft Power BI, DAX and report/dashboard development 




Education, Certifications & Designations: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience  in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics,
  • Introduction to Insurance or equivalent knowledge and skillset covered in the course.
  • Complete AINS 21 and  22 (First and Second in AINS Designation)
  • Successful completion of the Microsoft PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification is preferred at the time of hire
    • Employees who have not earned the certification must successfully complete it within 3 months of employment

Preferred: 

  • CPCU, Master's Degree
