The Opportunity

As the Manager of the Data Product Domain Teams, you will lead a team responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of data products within our organization’s Data Marketplace. You will oversee a group of Data Product Owners and Data Analysts, and work closely with data engineers, data scientists, IT and other partners, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality data products that align with business objectives for each of the Data Domains. Your role will involve strategic planning, project management, team leadership, and collaboration with senior stakeholders across Business and Functional areas to drive innovation and maximize the value of data products. This is a key role within the MRS-NA Data team expected to build and foster a collaborative, informative, client and results focused culture with a diverse and energized team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the work of the domain specific data product teams through the full end-to-end development lifecycle of data products, from ideation to deployment and maintenance in the Data Marketplace.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define the strategic direction for data products and solutions, aligning with business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across different departments, including business units, IT, and analytics teams, to understand requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Data Product Owners, data engineers, and others to ensure the proper prioritization of features, define requirements, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Direct the implementation of best practices for agile development, continuous integration, and delivery processes.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in the data and analytics landscape, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other advanced analytics capabilities, to identify opportunities for strategic adoption and integration within the company.
  • Implement and enforce data quality standards, governance policies, and best practices to maintain the integrity, consistency, and reliability of all data products.
  • Operate as Subject Matter Expert for the Data Marketplace, and drive innovation and continuous improvement within the Data Product Domain Teams, leveraging emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • As a business leader you will have full accountability of outputs for deliverables including but not limited to documentation, potential improvements, and benefits, and for reporting out on business cases and ROI attainment as required.
  • Resolve issues throughout the product development process to ensure the domain teams continue to move forward.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, and be an advocate for Data Culture and change management throughout the organization.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing, skill development, and professional growth.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members, and regularly assess performance against objectives.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following experience/skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of insurance processes, terminology, and concepts as well as
  • Proven experience (10 years) with continually increasing responsibilities in P&C Insurance (underwriting, actuarial, operations, claims, finance, or other data intensive functions), of which 5 years in a data related role (e.g. data engineering, data product ownership, data management, data analytics).
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data governance.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI and programming languages (SQL/R/Python).
  • Familiarity with Data Bricks and experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services for data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering innovative and scalable solutions.
  • Leadership qualities such as integrity, accountability, resilience, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas and multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including New York (NY) and Princeton (NJ) The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $185,800 - $296,100, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). 

The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the higher end being more aligned with the New York job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
