This role will be part of the RI Property & Casualty Tower for Group Technology (IT 1.17), responsible for delivering business value by managing IT products and executing change projects for the RI P&C business. The Tower maintains key relationships with units involved in underwriting and claims management, and oversees IT products for Munich Re Trading Limited, which develops risk transfer solutions. Additionally, it collaborates closely with finance and digital innovation teams to combine services and data, supporting the expansion of business use cases.

The section IT Re Insurance Property & Casualty (RI P&C) delivers business value through management of IT products including execution of change projects, and delivery of agile IT product management, application development and IT operational support. The product and project portfolio of IT RI P&C covers all underwriting & pricing solutions for all Reinsurance LoB (w/o L/H) globally as well as the solutions for Claims Management.

To complement our team of recognized IT experts, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual. As a Business Analyst with a deep understanding of IT systems and reinsurance claims processes, you will be responsible for analyzing, documenting, and translating business needs into effective and efficient IT solutions.

You will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that requirements are clearly understood, prioritized, and delivered in line with operational, compliance, and cost-efficiency goals.

Your Job

  • Analyze reinsurance underwriting business processes and data requirements, identifying and initiating improvements in close collaboration with business stakeholders and technical architects.
  • Apply strong analytical skills to uncover business challenges, document requirements and acceptance criteria, and test IT solutions.
  • Align, assess, and prioritize business demands, driving project and product backlogs in partnership with project management.
  • Ensure a consistent, integrated, and resilient target system and data landscape to support cost-efficient digital operations.

Your Profile

  • University degree in Computer Engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of reinsurance core business processes, with experience managing diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in analyzing business needs, defining system requirements, and translating them into practical IT solutions, including backlog management and product documentation.
  • Several years’ experience in IT - preferably in application development—with in-depth knowledge of the full software development and product lifecycle in an agile environment.
  • Experience implementing data input management and workflow solutions is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Documented success in delivering solutions that drive measurable business process improvements.
  • Skilled in documenting requirements through use cases, user stories, logical data models, and UML (e.g., with Sparx Enterprise Architect).
  • Collaborative and consultative working style, fostering accountability and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong business acumen - able to quickly understand business priorities and frame solutions from a business perspective.
  • Ideally, excellent command of German and English, with willingness to travel.
