The Risk Management function at Great Lakes Insurance SE (GL) oversees and manages all material risks relevant to an international primary insurer, providing a solid foundation for informed management decisions. As a specialty provider of primary insurance services, GL is an integral part of Munich Re Group and an important enabler for Specialty Insurance Business closely connected to Munich Re’s reinsurance core business.
The advertised internship position is part of the Capital Modelling Team, which analyses and models quantitative risks using statistical, actuarial, and analytical methods to determine the company’s solvency capital requirements under Solvency II. The wider Risk Management area also includes the Non‑Financial Risk Team and a central Governance & Reporting team, ensuring a comprehensive, enterprise‑wide approach to risk and capital management.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Implementation of existing Excel tools in R, including structuring the underlying logic, testing, and documentation.
  • Support with ad‑hoc analyses, data preparation, and presentation of results.
  • Contribution to validation and general Risk Management tasks, such as plausibility checks, sensitivity analyses, or benchmarking.
  • Assistance in the further development or automation of capital modelling processes.

Ihr Profil

  • Ongoing studies in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Data Science, or another quantitative subject.
  • Interest in quantitative analysis, modelling, or actuarial topics - previous knowledge is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with R or another programming language is an advantage; motivation to learn and improve technical skills is important.
  • Comfortable working with Excel and data in general.
    Motivated team player with curiosity and a proactive mindset.

Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
