As the Head of Energy Practice at HSB you will lead the Energy/Renewable Energy business within the Transactional Insurance segment, a critical business unit within the Custom Risk Solutions (CRS) Division of Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Company.  This includes oversight and accountability for financial and operating performance and leading of underwriting and business development functions focused on energy related products and services.  Works in close partnership with key functions supporting the Energy business such as finance, corporate underwriting, operations, cat management, pricing, claims, marketing and engineering to grow and manage the Energy book of business. This role will execute on key strategies that drive growth in our products and services through  existing and alternative distribution channels and leveraging partnerships with other Munich business segments (F&C, MRSG and Green Tech Solutions) to  ensure that our product and services remain competitive in the marketplace. The lead will be a visible industry subject matter expert representing HSB in the energy market place.  Manage overall catastrophic accumulation risk of the  Energy business  and align with new Underwriting and Risk Management approaches for this sector to adjust with the changing marketplace.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the Property insurance space, with preference for some focus in energy and renewable energy products.
  • Commercial Underwriting and Marketing experience
  • CPCU or relevant insurance industry designation preferred 
  • Experience in project and time management
  • Experience in the Energy segment especially in Renewable Energy space (e.g. either on the (Re)insurance or on the consulting side)
