The section Platform Integration is the business owner of the technical infrastructure of our Life & Health Division 6, the so-called Hedging Platform on Cloud (HPoC), which is a multi-instance system architecture in the public cloud subject to high-availability requirements in the context of capital market trading. The team organizes the administration of the platform, translates business requests into technical requirements and supervises their implementation in order to fit the needs of the business. The team also supervises the services delivered from external providers, which includes the continuous monitoring of the system and business-related technical processes in place, the organization of development and release processes, and project work.

We are seeking a Senior Trading Technology Specialist for the Platform Integration unit. You will act as the internal Product Owner of the Calypso trading application (Front Office System), which is the core system on HPoC to enable the hedging program for the reinsurance transactions the division underwrites.

Your Job

  • Functional design of application architecture (customization) for reinsurance and fund products on Calypso. This includes the analysis and implementation of new business requirements when embedding new processes or reinsurance/hedge asset types into the system, as well as pricing and calibration methods for financial derivatives and P&L functionality.
  • Coordination of implementation requirements (in alignment with business and Test & Release Management), incl. gap analysis, prioritization and specification of functional solution architecture
  • Oversight function over the external development team: Align with the service provider on prioritization of implementation items and track their delivery incl. related quality assurance and documentation. In addition, supervise e.g. the definition and execution of development test routines (such as regression testing), compliance of customization, code refactoring activities, implementation of coding conventions, mitigation of findings in security scans or enabling of AI based coding.
  • Support the development team in providing 2nd level support in the analysis of any kind of misbehaviour in the system (e.g. debugging), both from a business and a technical perspective
  • Raise proactive proposals for enhancements of the Calypso set-up with the objectives to improve stability and performance, reduction of operative risks and raising efficiency
  • Contribute to business testing (functional scenario and user acceptance tests)
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager for Development Services in defining and monitoring budget and service KPIs for external development of the Calypso application
  • Support capturing and parameterization of reinsured business on the Calypso Hedging Platform by the Modelling team

Your Profile

  • University degree in (insurance / financial / business) mathematics, computer science or physics
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in organizing development processes (e.g. as a scrum master, product owner or development lead in (re-)insurance, investment baking, consultancy or in related areas) for a customized Front Office system (knowledge of the Calypso system and its API is desired)
  • Profound knowledge in Java programming, good understanding of agile development processes, as well as tools for code versioning, ticketing, testing, release building and deployment automation
  • Knowledge of quantitative models and their calibration, as well as good understanding of IT architecture for proprietary valuation libraries, proven by practical experience in this area
  • Proven track record in implementation of financial products on front office systems
  • Experience with operation of front office systems: Capturing of trades, processing of trade lifecycle events & settlements, quality assurance of input & output, market data and risk evaluations
  • Hands-on mindset and commitment to delivering excellence
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
