Munich Re`s Group Sustainability Department shapes the ESG strategy for the entire Munich Re Group and advises the ESG Committee of the Board of Management on strategic sustainability topics. The department oversees ESG governance across the Group, sustainability performance in own operations and the integration of ESG criteria into (re)insurance and investments.

In close collaboration with stakeholders across business units and global locations, we develop and implement ESG approaches, assess emerging sustainability topics and support the integration of ESG considerations into business processes and decision-making. We position Munich Re strategically on ESG topics, engaging in discussions with internal stakeholders (e.g., ESG Committee) and external partners (e.g., clients, industry associations, ESG rating agencies, NGOs).

We are looking for an intern with a strong interest in ESG topics, good analytical and project management skills and, ideally, initial experience in the financial or (re)insurance sector. You will work on a broad range of strategic ESG topics and contribute directly to ongoing projects within the team.

We look forward to having you join our team starting in February/March 2027.

Your Job

  • Support the integration of ESG considerations into (re)insurance and investments, including research, analysis and development of supporting materials
  • Support ESG due diligence processes and responses to internal and external inquiries on topics such as climate, human rights, controversial weapons, biodiversity and other environmental and social topics
  • Support the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and agents to enhance ESG research, analysis and knowledge management
  • Conduct research and develop analyses and presentations on emerging sustainability topics, regulatory and market developments, peer approaches and ESG methodologies
  • Assist with team coordination, meetings and documentation where required

Your Profile

  • Enrolled in a degree program in economics, business administration, engineering, natural or social sciences, or related fields
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • First experience with ESG topics through studies, internships or work
  • Affinity for AI and practical experience with AI tools and large language models, including building and maintaining agents; experience with prompting or building AI agents is an advantage
  • Understanding of ESG topics in the financial services or (re)insurance sector is an advantage
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; German is a strong advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Highly motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects within deadlines
  • Strong team spirit and collaborative mindset

Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
