Data Scientist – Pricing

We are currently looking for a Data Scientist - Pricing to be based in Madrid on a full-time basis, reporting into the European HUB Pricing Manager.

You will be responsible for supporting the Pricing function’s evolution into a data-driven function within the Global Markets Pricing team in Madrid, applying data science and database techniques to pricing data and driving process automation to improve forecasting, decision-making, reporting and operational efficiency.

You will help collect, organise and analyse pricing and underwriting data from various sources, build well-structured databases, and develop predictive and analytical models and dashboards that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders.

You will collaborate closely with the underwriting team supporting the Chief of Underwriting, the Country Heads and the London and Munich Actuarial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Power BI dashboards and reports that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Collect, organise and analyse pricing and underwriting data from various sources across the Pricing team to derive insights that inform business decisions.
  • Build predictive and analytical models to identify key pricing and rating risk factors, improving forecasting and decision-making accuracy.
  • Design, build and maintain well-structured databases to support scalable pricing tools.
  • Support the build and maintenance of rating engine structures and underlying databases in HX Renew and other pricing platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with the Pricing team to identify areas where data-driven insights and automation can improve their operations.
  • Work with the IT team to ensure that pricing data is stored and analysed securely, with sound database design and management.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data sources, processes and models to support audit, governance and knowledge-sharing.
  • Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.

Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in a data science, data analytics or database-focused role, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of databases and SQL, with practical experience designing, building and querying relational databases.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI; experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms is a plus.
  • Experience building predictive and analytical models to support business decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of, or strong interest in, pricing/actuarial processes and data.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear, actionable insights for both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with HX Renew or similar pricing platforms, and exposure to data governance or data quality practices, is a plus.
