Headquartered in Amelia, Ohio, just outside Cincinnati, American Modern offers a flexible hybrid work environment. Interns typically spend approximately 40 to 50% of their time in the office, creating opportunities for collaboration, networking, and professional development.

Personal Lines Underwriting  

What You'll Do: 

  • Research underwriting processes and identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Analyze operational outputs and business data. 

  • Enter and maintain underwriting system information. 

  • Assist with reporting and trend analysis. 

  • Support research projects involving sales partner performance, claims drivers, and risk mitigation.  

What You'll Gain:

Product Data Research

What You'll Do:

  • Support rate-plan filings and research initiatives.

Product Management 

What You'll Do:

  • Support underwriting strategy initiatives.

Product Enablement 

What You'll Do: 

  • Support active product initiatives. 

  • Assist with rating structures within Earnix. 

  • Research operational issues and document findings. 

  • Support enablement leaders with project work and analysis.

Product Operations – Training and Quality 

What You'll Do: 

  • Update training curriculum and templates. 

  • Improve process documentation. 

  • Create learning materials and assessments. 

  • Organize information for long-term usability and consistency.

Product Operations – Vendor Management 

What You'll Do: 

  • Support invoice processing and vendor administration. 

  • Monitor transaction and usage reporting. 

  • Assist with contract-related activity. 

  • Compare spending against budget information. 

  • Maintain accurate vendor documentation and records. 

What You'll Gain: 

  • Exposure to vendor-management processes. 

  • Experience supporting budgeting and operational activities.

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Insurance, Integrated Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field. 

  • Rising Junior or Senior at the time of the internship. 

  • Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for the duration of the summer internship program. 

  • Able to work in a hybrid environment, including approximately 40 to 50% of the time in our Amelia, Ohio office. 

  • Reliable transportation to commute to the office as required. 

  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

  • An eagerness to learn, take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute to meaningful projects.
