Purpose of the Position:

Day to day management of the US Binding Authority Broking Department.

Broking individual risks and Binding Authorities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for supervising and managing the daily tasks and activities of the department and ensuring that all queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Development and training of staff along with regular feedback and appraisal of direct reports.
  • Responsibility for day to day staffing issues.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with Customers and Market through proactive contact.
  • To arrange and provide renewal information for US Clients, which may be used for servicing and marketing requirements in London.
  • Negotiate and Broking of new and renewal binding authorities with Clients and Markets.
  • Oversee the High Value Homeowner business and Underwrite HVH risks within specific binding authority guidelines.
  • Undertake US travel to Clients/Conventions as and when required.
  • Assist in resolving queries from other departments in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the leadership of the department in order to achieve high level of performance, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in production / analysis of management information including quarterly Board report, performance reports and budgets.
  • Assist in the operational side of B&C as and when appropriate including proposed projects.
  • Attending courses and keeping up to date with legislative rules / amendments, Market Reform.
  • Awareness of FCA rules and all relevant regulatory and compliance issues as may be applicable. Assist in implementation where applicable.
  • To abide by the policies and procedures of Bell & Clements Ltd.
  • To embrace and actively implement the core principles of Continuous Conversations (Commitments, Feedback and Development) as part of daily activities and with other colleagues.
  • Take ownership of and make personal and professional development a priority as part of Continuous Conversations.
  • In line with Continuous Conversations, establish and achieve development aspirations and needs through the setting of commitments and giving and receiving frequent, constructive feedback (referring to resources provided for support)
  • Lead Data Owner responsibilities:
  • Responsible for applicable business unit(s) for oversight and maintenance of the Data Asset Register
  • Implementation and ongoing oversight of Data Classification, working in conjunction with the Data Protection Officer in respect of any Data Access Requests
  • Reviewing data access rights and use of data (Storage, Transfer and Retention), approve access to data through file share of IT systems, assist in anonymising data and ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage data.  
  • To be the key point of contact within the applicable business unit(s) for data protection enquiries and where required undertake specific Data Protection training within the business unit(s) e.g. Data Classification training.
  • To work in conjunction with the Data protection Officer, Chief Risk, Compliance and Legal Officer and Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with B&C’s policies and procedures.
