HSB Solomon Associates LLC (Solomon), a subsidiary of Hartford Steam Boiler and MunichRe, is seeking candidates for a Studies Delivery Analyst position to work in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. Basic Function 

The Studies Delivery Analyst will provide efficient handling and processing of large amounts of confidential client data and prepare customer reports. This position contributes to the improvement of study processes, study design, methodology implementations, and data management for benchmarking and other studies. This role will also process and provide information related to operating costs, production efficiency, and technical data for custom consulting studies. The Study Data Analyst analyzes operational performance, calculates performance gaps and improvement opportunities, and contributes to study process and methodology improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities 

Study Deliverables Production & Development

  • Updates electronic input forms, builds data checking tools for data quality, automates data processing of benchmarking and performance data.

  • Builds new calculations into spreadsheets, SQL databases, business intelligence tools, and Business Rule Engines (Decisions, Boomi, etc.).

  • Automates production of client presentations and analysis.

  • Builds, implements, and supports new Business Intelligence (BI) tools including PowerBI, Tableau, or other tools to be determined.

Study Data Flow & Progression

  • Manages client data through complete production cycle including data receipt, data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

  • Provides metric calculation, peer group creation, calculation updates, and client deliverables production (data reports and presentation).

  • Process Automation Improvements

  • Automates and improves data production through SQL, Python, R, Visual Basics for Application (VBA), and other tools.

  • Implements new processes in new ETL, BI, and presentation tools.

Quality of Client Deliverables

  • Responsible for quality and confidentiality of client deliverables.

  • Ensures the correct data is going out to the correct client and the data is presented in a professional manner.

Maintaining Process Documentation

  • Maintains documentation on current processes and develops new documentation as we upgrade and improve tools we use.

Resolve Data Flow Issues

  • Troubleshoots and fixes data quality issues, ETL issues between systems, and production issues.

  • Manages and maintains production queues.

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering

Work Experience 

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis and processing

  • Experience extracting and transforming data from Oracle, SQL, Microsoft® Access, or other data systems

  • Data processing tools (VBA, Python, Excel, BI Tools, etc.)

      Preferred:

  • Industry experience in Energy or Refining/Chemical sector

  • Understanding of financial accounting systems

  • Delivery of high-quality work product using Solomon documentation standards as appropriate

  • Effectively and efficiently navigate workflows and processes to accomplish work and recommend improvements

  • Proven track record of continuous improvement and creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful

  • Data Analytics Tools—Proficiency with data analytics and tools such as Python, Excel, VBA, BI tools, etc.

  • Detail Oriented—Reviews work quality and anomalies in results

  • Workload Planning—Demonstrates ability to self-manage, set schedules, and prioritize work appropriately

  • Industry Knowledge—Strong understanding of the oil, gas, energy industry segment supported with a general understanding of accounting, timekeeping, and business data tracking

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex problems, derive insights from data, and provide actionable recommendations

  • Effectively and efficiently navigate workflows and processes to accomplish work

  • Strong independent work ethic while also making a positive contribution to an existing, highly collaborative work environment

  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions that considers all relevant factors, criteria, risks, and implications

  • Interpersonal Skills—Demonstrated ability to develop and grow strong work relationships

  • Microsoft Office Products—Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®
