Client Manager (Life Insurance)

The Life team provides reinsurance services for the life industry in Australia and New Zealand and operates in Retail, Group and Direct markets.

The Commercial team provides advice on all aspects of MRA and our clients’ proposition, including pricing, product design, claims and underwriting. The team also brings Munich Re’s global insights and capabilities to the Australian and New Zealand market.

The Client solutions team oversees MRA’s client relationships, with a focus on Retail and Direct insurance. This role is responsible for the creation and execution of the strategy for certain MRA clients in New Zealand and Australia. The role is also responsible for ensuring MRA collectively and individually meets client expectations and business plans.

Your Role

• Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of MRA’s business plan.
• MRA Proposition: Support the Head of Client Solutions with MRAs proposition (product, tech, underwriting, claims, pricing, etc), to ensure it is coherent and appropriately targeted to clients.
• New Business: With the Head of Client Solutions, ensure MRA has a robust pipeline of business.
• Client Strategies: Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategy for agreed clients. Ensuring the voice of our customer is represented within MRA.
• Client Management: Proactively build, strengthen and maintain client relationships. Role model excellent client engagement and encourage MRA to engage with clients effectively.
• Treaty Management and Profitability: Deliver sustainable business results for MRA through ongoing monitoring and portfolio management with a coherent cross-functional approach. Assist with effective pricing discussions with clients and doing pricing work as required from time to time in accordance with MRA pricing principles.
• Project Delivery: Lead the project management and delivery of RFP, tenders and other work for clients including oversight and input on product, pricing, underwriting, claims, legal and risk considerations.
• Team culture: Contribute to an engaged and high-performance team culture that meets client, stakeholder and team member expectations
• Risk Management: Perform risk controls effectively, efficiently and economically, within the accountabilities of your function.

Your Profile

• Experience in technical insurance disciplines including product management, underwriting, claims, pricing/valuation, distribution and or legal/risk (essential)
• Qualified Actuary (FIAA or equivalent) with 5+ years life insurance experience in the Australia/NZ market (essential)
• Experience of working successfully with diverse stakeholders both internally and externally (essential)
• Ability to influence/ deliver positive outcomes through effective relationship building, negotiation and stakeholder engagement
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex and time critical projects

Technical:

• Solid understanding of ANZ life insurance market, regulatory and competitor landscapes
• Sound understanding of actuarial concepts and pricing
• Ability to produce high-quality written reports & presentations for various audiences, including senior-level stakeholders and clients
• Ability to understand and draft Treaty and other documents as well as the levers available to enhance treaty performance
