Munich Re's global Compliance team lives and shapes integrity. Within Global Compliance, Global Programs & Compliance DE is a dedicated team with end-to-end responsibility for specific compliance programs. The team provides compliance subject matter expertise across Munich Re units on topics such as financial sanctions, anti-money laundering, corruption, conduct compliance, ESG and external staff. 
We are looking for a Compliance Counsel to help establish and continuously develop Munich Re's future Group AML Function. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a consistent, risk-based AML framework across Munich Re, ERGO and MEAG, while working closely with AML mirror functions, business units, senior stakeholders, auditors and regulators. 

Your Job

  • Support the establishment and continuous development of Munich Re's future Group AML Function, shaping group-wide governance, roles, responsibilities and interfaces with AML mirror functions across the Group
  • Coordinate group-wide AML data and information flows and further develop management and governance reporting for relevant stakeholders 
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and enhancement of group-wide AML norms, processes, controls and risk assessment methodologies
  • Support regular and event-driven AML risk assessments and help promote a consistent, risk-based approach to AML governance across Munich Re, ERGO and MEAG
  • Monitor regulatory developments, conduct AML-related impact assessments and gap analyses, and translate new requirements into practical group-wide guidance and central interpretations
  • Support risk-based monitoring activities and reviews that strengthen the adequacy and effectiveness of the group-wide AML framework
  • Advise internal stakeholders on AML-related governance, risk assessment, reporting and controls, and contribute to AML training and awareness initiatives
  • Support internal and external audits as well as supervisory reviews at group level, including preparation, coordination, documentation and follow-up of findings and remediation measures
  • Contribute to strategic AML projects and internal working groups, particularly in relation to the new EU AML framework and Munich Re's future Group AML operating model

Your Profile

  • University degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Insurance Management or a comparable discipline
  • Relevant professional experience in anti-money laundering, preferably gained in a compliance, AML officer, audit or regulatory function and ideally within insurance or the broader financial services sector
  • Sound understanding of AML governance, compliance management systems, internal controls and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Practical experience in designing, implementing or monitoring AML frameworks, norms and controls in an international or group-wide environment
  • Strong knowledge of AML regulatory requirements and market standards; experience with BaFin-regulated entities or the insurance sector would be an asset
  • Relevant AML certifications or qualifications are considered an advantage
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to structure complex regulatory topics and translate them into pragmatic, risk-based and implementation-oriented solutions
  • Very good stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across different audiences
  • Structured, proactive and solution-oriented working style, combined with a high level of personal responsibility and the ability to take ownership of new and evolving topics
  • Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken
