F&C Property & Engineering Underwriter (m/f/d)* - Munich RE Mexico

We are currently looking for a Property & Engineering Underwriter to join our Facultative & Corporate (F&C) team, with a primary focus on México and Central America including Panamá. In this role, you will contribute to the development of our single risk facultative business, supporting clients with tailored reinsurance solutions across complex Property and Engineering risks in the region. 

Within our F&C unit, we deliver tailor-made reinsurance solutions for complex single risks and large corporate exposures, combining deep technical expertise with a strong client-centric approach. You will work closely with clients and brokers to understand their needs, assess technical risks, and provide customized underwriting solutions, while collaborating with regional and global teams to ensure sustainable portfolio growth and market relevance. 

As part of the Munich Re Group, you will be exposed to an international, collaborative environment with strong interaction across Latin America and global stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities

• Underwrite Property & Engineering single risk facultative business across Mexico and Central America, taking ownership of risk assessment and pricing decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. 
• Assess complex property and engineering risks, including construction, infrastructure, and power-related exposures, applying sound technical judgment and market knowledge. 
• Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers across the region, acting as a trusted partner, supporting business development initiatives, and contributing to the expansion of the regional portfolio.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the Property & Engineering portfolio, supporting strategic initiatives and ensuring long-term profitability. 
• Proactively originate and structure reinsurance opportunities, working closely with clients to design tailored solutions for complex risks. 
• Monitor and manage the assigned book of business, ensuring alignment with portfolio targets, performance expectations, and overall business strategy. 
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Client Management, Claims, and regional underwriting teams, to ensure a seamless client experience and effective decision-making. 
• Engage in client meetings, negotiations, and technical discussions, representing Munich Re in the market and strengthening our positioning. 
• Leverage data and underwriting tools to support risk analysis, portfolio insights, and informed decision-making. 
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, supporting a collaborative and high-performance team environment. 

Your Profile

• Preferable degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or equivalent). 
• 3+ years of experience in Property and/or Engineering underwriting, ideally in single risk facultative business. 
• Practical experience in engineering environments (e.g., civil works, power utilities) is a strong plus. 
• Strong analytical and underwriting capabilities, with the ability to assess complex technical and property risks. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong client orientation and teamwork mindset. 
• Adaptability and willingness to travel within the region. 
• Experience or affinity with **data management** is an asset. 
• Fluent Spanish and business-level English (written and spoken) are mandatory. 
• Intercultural competences are a plus.
