Actuarial Intern - Valuation, Life and Health

Munich Re Beijing Branch, part of Munich Re, the world’s largest reinsurer, is looking for an Actuarial Intern to strengthen our consultative advisory services for primary insurers in the Greater China region.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background in Actuarial Science, Statistics, and Mathematics to provide support for various external and internal projects. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals who are experts in their field, gaining valuable insights and knowledge in supporting the development and improvement of our actuarial models and systems. This hands-on experience will enable you to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems, develop your technical skills, and enhance your understanding of the industry.

While we expect the majority of work to be full-time and onsite with the team, we are open to provide some flexibility when it comes to core studies related inquiries.

YOUR ROLE

• Contribute to the development and refinement of our Axis model, ensuring that it remains a robust and accurate tool for informing business decisions.
• Design, develop, and implement SQL projects to support the extraction, manipulation, and analysis of complex data sets.
• Perform reinsurance premium adjustments and manage cash flow, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and reflected in our financial systems.
• Fulfill other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor, including providing support for ad-hoc analyses, data extraction, and other projects as needed.

YOUR PROFILE

• Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, and Mathematics or a related discipline, with a strong academic record;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a foundation in SQL, Axis;
• Fast learner, open minded, able to challenge status quo;
• Result oriented, able to work under pressure;
• Good collaboration and problem-solving skills;
• Fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English, with a minimum CET-6 certificate or equivalent (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS);
• Available to work full-time (at least 4-5 days per week) for 5-6 months.
